RED STATE
Most of us understand that how we conduct our finances and how we deal with other people will determine how successful we will be in our lives. A huge part of our duties as citizens is to be informed about the political forces in our country. If we are uninformed we are allowing the unscrupulous politicians with their sound bites to influence and control us. One interesting outcome of the Super Tuesday primary was on the Democrat primary for the presidential nominee.
The Oklahoma tallies were 43% of Oklahoma Democrats voted against President Obama - costing him outright defeat in 15 Oklahoma Counties. I thought it was interesting that the Oklahoma state democrat chairman dismissed the outcome as the result of Oklahomans being racists. The chairman’s statement that, "Racism is alive and well in Oklahoma" should be an insult to all Oklahomans regardless of what political party they happen to belong to. I, like most other Oklahomans, don’t care what color a man’s skin happens to be as long as he believes in the concepts that has made our country the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.
I believe that most of the people in Oklahoma have the ability to see through all of the half-truths and the political rhetoric that is putting our country on a downhill slide. There are many instances where I disagree with how our commander and chief has handled our country’s business; I will name a couple that come to mind. Maybe we can remember that when our current president took office the cost of gasoline was roughly half what it is today. Granted, in a free market society market forces and political turmoil in other countries can have an effect on what we pay for gasoline. It doesn’t help matters when he denies a request to construct a pipeline that would deliver Canadian crude oil to our country and lessen the dependence on oil from countries that have an adversarial attitude towards us. Maybe we Oklahomans are tired of our president making apologies to other nations for all of the past actions of the United States. The latest incident was the apology for the Koran burning in Afghanistan. What he and the main stream press failed to report was the fact that Muslim prisoners had defaced them with written invitations to fellow prisoners to kill Americans. The president could have offered a simple explanation, not an apology, of why and how the Korans, mutilated by Muslim prisoners, were burned.
I have listed only a couple of issues and haven’t even touched the health care bill that I feel is unconstitutional. To quote Charles De Gaulle, “I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians.” Maybe that is why Oklahoma is a red state.
