FALLING DOMINOES
Several years ago I watched a program that featured an individual who spent several weeks setting up thousands of dominoes so he could knock the first one over and start a chain reaction. It was kind of entertaining to watch the dominoes falling in different directions; one thing that was very evident was it didn’t take near as long for the dominoes to fall as it did to set them all on their ends. The program about the falling dominoes is proving to be a pretty good analogy to what is happening to our once great nation.
We are about to start a new year; in my opinion our nation is facing a chain reaction as well. The latest 1.1 trillion omnibus budget deal proved that the so-called conservatives that we have elected to fight the over reach by the executive branch of our government have proven that they lack the stomach to oppose the socialists that seem to be hell bent on destroying our nation. I am a conservative and I am proud of it. The principles that I believe in are the ones that the founders of this nation gave us. It wasn’t that long ago that most of our citizens were proud to be self-sufficient and in control of their own destiny. Today too many people are only concerned with working the system and getting some freebie. Our nation was once rich enough to support the corruption that was growing in our society, but our nation is no longer able to absorb waste and corruption.
Sadly we Americans have brought much of the problem upon ourselves. We have allowed ourselves to be conned by a bunch of worthless politicians who are only worried about getting re-elected and pandering to certain groups to get enough votes to achieve that goal. Our nation is over 19 trillion dollars in debt, but even with that startling fact our elected officials cannot reign in a budget that spends more that our federal government collects from across our nation. 2016 is an election year, and I have begun to lose faith in the political class to save this nation.
Instead of putting faith in the political class we need to put faith into the only people that can fix the problem, all you have to do is to look into the mirror. While many people like to make New Year’s resolutions, it will take a major change of attitude for many of our citizens. A well-informed patriotic people will elect the people that are sincere and actually care for our nation and the founding principles it was based upon. If we Americans fail to see the light and not be willing to make the sacrifices necessary, our great nation, and all of the things that made it special in the world, will fall like a bunch of dominoes.
