Robbers Cave State Park

Robbers Cave State Park in Oklahoma is a historic site where the likes of Jessie James and Bell Star used to corral, notorious out laws of the past.  Today the site has be preserved for hikers and visitors wishing to visit the cave and take one of many trails that lead off from this location.  The park has mountainous terrain and pine trees that reach over 40 ft. in height.  The location has been visited from the turn of the century and still offers a unique place for travelers to visit.

This site offers a peaceful mountainous trail which extend out over the country side, some trails are considered a little rigorous, while others are somewhat easy.  Newly developed walkway will provide assistance to those who are disabled, however climbing the rocks to get to the cave site may prove to be a challenge if not impossible for disabled people.

The location frequently supports boy-scouts earning their badges for climbing or rappelling.  With a cliff over 65 ft. in height this is a good location to abseil or ascend a rope or in general climb.  But don't be fooled none of the edges have guard railing so you must come with safety in mind and good shoes.

Learn to explore the trails to find a lost lake or a cattail pond off in the wilderness and be relaxed with nature. These locations offer an opportunity to those wishing to practice landscape photography.

On down the way from the Cave near the entrance to the park is a visitors center with a nature center offering a glimpse into what may be found in the areas and a souvenir sales area to pick up some memento's from the trip.

Travel Oklahoma and make this site one of your destinations, with fun for adults and kids; come prepared to have a decent visit to the old hang outs of outlaws. -JB
