THE CONSERVATIVE VIEW

HEAD ON A PLATTER

Over the holidays I have noticed how excited fans of sporting events can get. When their football team goes onto the field, many will jump up and down and scream at the top of their lungs. The fans also expect the team to put forth all the effort they have to win the game; even if their team is overmatched they still expect nothing short of their best. If for some reason a coach or a player doesn’t give his all the fans quickly demand their head on a platter. Sports fans are very unforgiving when it comes to their sporting events when the team members are uninspired. I feel that it is time that the voters of this nation start taking some lessons from the sports enthusiasts.

Last November the voters of this nation gave the Republican party the opportunity to be the team to stop the out of control Obama administration. The people of this country are tired of the deception and the unconstitutional actions that seem to be an every day thing from the White House. Most, if not all, of the Republican candidates campaigned to the American people about repealing and replacing the so-called Affordable Care Act “Obamacare”; sadly, no sooner than the election was over Speaker of the House John Boehner joined forces with Barrack Obama to pass the Omnibus-spending bill. In the bill Obamacare was funded until next fall. Instead of waiting for a group of newly elected conservatives to take office in January to fight the Obamacare disaster, he essentially tied their hands until next October. I know that it is easy to be an armchair quarterback, but it seems that Speaker Boehner would rather forfeit instead of taking on the fight.

The people of this country are sick of legislation being crammed down their throats such as Obamacare. In my state of Oklahoma, a recent report stated that 44 thousand people signed up for it; out of that number 82% were receiving subsidies to pay for it. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the 18% paying the whole bill themselves cannot pay for the other 82%. Another thing about Obamacare, if you didn’t purchase a policy when you file your 2014 tax return you will be taxed at least 90 dollars; in 2015 if you don’t purchase a policy you will be taxed over 350 dollars. For all of those who think that Obamacare is such a good thing, remove the requirement to have a policy and make it voluntary, I am sure that people will line up to sign on.

If the Republican House and Senate don’t make some bold moves to reign in the Executive branch, in a very short period of time we voters will be like the sports fans wanting someone’s head on a platter.
