A True Ghost Encounter in Oklahoma's Backwood Area.
By James Breedlove
The tail of the old ghost car. Upon the old dirt roads leading the backside of the Robbers Cave park area are hiking trails, which people use all the time. We were hiking one day when this old ghost car similar to this 1937 Packard come driving by on the old dirt trail then disappeared. The car did not leave any tracks and there was no too much of an evidence of a vehicle had been there, except light tire impressions on down the dirt road. Quite the car did not rumble or make much a sound in so much, that I didn't hear it, but knew something odd was about. We discussed what was seen and went up to the trail to see if we could spot the old car, but it was nowhere to be found. The old ghost car is from the latent memories of times gone by, a ghost in our realm of perception which still reminds us today of those who once lived and worked in the timberlines of Oklahoma's back wood areas.
Still today when your out and about in the Wilburton, Robbers Cave State Park you should take the time to venture out onto the trails that lead to lost lake and cattail pond, along the way you may be so lucky as to see this old car rumble by your way. But don't be alarmed, we haven't heard of any encounter that has lasted but a few seconds and only in visual view as you are walking through the woods.
