Just how important is our privacy while participating in social media camps?
As the lead agent of the FBI task force said to one of his co-workers, "this can of worms only opens from the inside".
It is understood in order to get criminals out of our world wide web space, places like Facebook, twitter and others must be approached with an angle. If I can insert my people into someone's friend group I can see what he or she does, thus eliminating the hassle of obtaining court orders to an ISP, hosting site or conglomerate social media company; we can take criminals off-line. Problem being; where does it end. They might spy into every message private or public, database profiles of all users and collect a broad amount of information on millions of citizens. Informations gathered can be shared at there own discretion.
When I use the function to make a conversation private I expect the social media site to at least honor the intended feature they provided to it's users. If my conversations are to be spread across the world, I at least expect to have input on the subject. Where should that change, with a known terrorist or criminal on the FBI's most wanted list? Or do we lock them out of some portions of social media without a court order.
Perhaps it is reasonable enough to expect no privacy when we join any "social" media site.
