RICOCHET SHOOTING

Anyone who has ever done any amount of shooting a firearm knows that you must have a clear line of site to your target. If there are any obstacles in the path of the bullet your bullet can bounce off of the obstacle and ricochet to an undesired target. The key is to know what you are doing before you squeeze the trigger. When you look at it objectively our actions in everyday life are much like shooting a target, we should have a clear objective and be able to screen out the distractions. Far too often we Americans have a bad habit of shooting from the hip and not taking proper aim at the issues of the day. A couple of days ago many Americans did take proper aim and did have a clear course of action concerning the attack on the Chick-fil-A fast food chain.

I was glad to see that some Americans still understand the concept that our country was founded upon freedom; one part being the freedom of speech. From what I observed, the chief executive officer Dan Cathy merely proclaimed his faith in the biblical principles that our country was founded upon. He and his company endured an onslaught of hate mail and threats from even some elected officials. I saw nothing in his statements that could be construed as being inciting or violent towards anyone. There are a huge group of people that are constantly trying to re-write our American history to their liking. It is a simple fact that our country was based upon the Judeo Christian belief system. Mr. Cathy merely proclaimed his faith in the biblical principles on which our country was founded.

In my opinion our leaders have become obsessed with the idea of Political Correctness. I have noticed that for many of them they are so afraid of offending some fringe group, but it seems all right to threaten and belittle the ones of us who are a member of the Christian religion. One good thing about all of the controversy, some of the people that are supposed to be so tolerant of others’ beliefs showed their true colors. One person, for example, was Rahm Emmanuel who voiced his support of an alderman in Chicago who threatened to deny Chick-fil-A permitting in Chicago because its owner supports traditional marriage and family. It is very evident that these politicians do not understand the concept of freedom of speech. The comments of Mr. Cathy should be protected under the first amendment, and denying a person the right to do business because of his opinion is a clear violation of his rights. Now that the good people of this nation know the true colors of people like Rahm Emmanuel and others, they need to get a clean line of sight with their votes and not allow their rhetoric to unduly influence them.
