THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUTH
While I’m not a senior citizen, I have been around long enough to see how we Americans are manipulated into supporting the very people responsible for the downward spiral that our country is experiencing. Far too many voters have been conditioned to think of election time as something resembling Christmas. I guess is it only natural for this to occur when the voters are continually promised their hearts’ desire if they would only vote for the politician making the biggest promises. Many politicians’ motto is to tell the people what they want to hear and, if necessary, lie to the voter and after they are elected they simply do what they want to do. It has gotten to the point of absurdity.
I once held public office and there was always someone asking for a favor or some project that would benefit them only. I made it a point that, if it were illegal, I would not do it and would tell them so. Other politicians would have lied to them and gave them the usual brush off by telling them that they would do the favor when they had the time, even though they had no intention of doing it in the first place. I noticed that most people would get angry at me and would never get over it; but when they were lied to, they would get over it. The great philosopher Plato observed the same phenomena many years ago when he said,“Strange times are these in which we live when old and young are taught in falsehood's school. And the one man who dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool."
Over the years I have witnessed a huge change in the morals and values that have made our country great. In the name of political correctness we have allowed the breaking down of all cultural standards of morality, including the promotion of all forms of homosexuality, promiscuity and degeneracy as “normal and healthy”. It is obvious that our traditional moral values based on Judeo-Christian principles are being replaced with immoral and un-Godly laws and evil disguised as tolerance.
We have set back and allowed laws such as Obamacare to be passed while a majority of the American people disapproves of it. The American people were told that to implement this monstrosity would only cost 900 billion dollars; now, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the cost will be three times higher. In a business if an employee displayed that level of incompetence, that employee would find themselves in the unemployment line pretty quick. It is hard for me to understand the mindset of the American who will tolerate incompetence and corruption on such a massive scale just because they are politicians. Many years ago a person told me the definition of truth, “it is when the word and the deed become one”. Until more of us understand the importance of truth, we will never get out of the mess we are in.
