THE CONSERVATIVE VIEW

MORE CHERRY PICKERS NEEDED

Being involved in politics I have witnessed the absurd statements of some of the people that by some miracle have been elected to public office. An even bigger absurdity is the way the news media seems to migrate to these charlatans. On the second day of the US government slowdown I watched some of the comments of the leader of the US Senate Harry Reid. In the video clip he was complaining about the US House passing bills to fund one department at a time; he made the comment that they were just “cherry picking” the departments that they supported. Maybe the Senate leader thought his comment was smart, and maybe the liberal media also thought it was a good one liner; in my opinion the comment only showed his arrogance.

The trouble with too many elected leaders is that they have become far removed from the real world. As for as cherry picking, those of us in the business sector have to do it every day. What he calls cherry picking is only a way of setting priorities. Unlike our government we cannot have the Federal Reserve to just print money out of thin air then borrow it from them to keep the party going a little longer. If we citizens tried to do that we would go to jail for counterfeiting. Every day business owners have to make the hard decisions to use the available money they have for the best use; many times things they would like to do must be delayed to another time.

One of the biggest factors in the current budget impasse is the implementation of Obamacare. Many of the cherry picking taxpayers of this country are starting to realize they don’t make enough money to pay the rent, utilities, and food then be forced to purchase health insurance. We cherry pickers also have a hard time understanding the mentality of those of you who think that the cost of doctors, hospitals and drugs are too high, but somehow if you force more services out of the insurance companies and hire thousands more bureaucrats to administer the system, the price will go down. But we cherry pickers have also watched how you and your staff, along with many of your cronies, have received exemptions to Obamacare while the rest of us are not given the same consideration. We have also noticed that if any of us mere mortals dare to voice our opinion on the unfairness of these exemptions, we are called anarchists or some other vile name. But I guess that is all right because the liberal media will not hold you responsible.

Sure, the government slowdown may cause some minor inconveniences, but it is nothing to the inconvenience the average citizen will endure with the new health care law that you have an exemption from. We conservative Americans are from a long line of cherry pickers and we are not as gullible as you might think.
