HOW TALL WAS THE TREE
I guess it is only nature for kids to climb trees. When I was a child I did my share of tree climbing; while I did take a few tumbles, fortunately there didn’t seem to be any lasting damage. Although I can remember having the wind knocked out of me on a couple of occasions and, for a time after I hit the ground, I was unable make a logical decision. Fortunately I did regain my senses and decided to stop climbing tall trees. Over the past few days I have been watching the news about the Congressional Budget Office report on the effects of Obamacare over the next 10 years. The responses of the current administration have me wondering how tall was the tree that they evidently fell out of?
According to the report 2.5 million jobs will be lost by 2024 because of Obamacare. Any sane person would be alarmed about that many jobs being lost, but for some reason the liberals in Washington DC didn’t seem to be bothered. One commented that Americans are working too much already and doing less work would give them more freedom to do the things that they want to. While that answer may sound good, maybe we should talk to some of the people that lived through the great depression and ask them if they enjoyed all of that extra freedom when they were struggling to find a job to feed their families. Another commented that parents could spend more time with their children and tuck them in at night and have the time to read a story to them. In my opinion all of their simpleton responses tell me that many people in this country do not have the American work ethic.
I agree that work is a four-letter word, but it is a good word. People sitting under a shade tree didn’t build America, it was built by people that weren’t afraid of hard work and were willing to go the extra mile. The conclusion was that many people would go on Medicare and receive government subsidies, the study came to the conclusion that if a person receiving subsidies were to work more hours he would no longer be eligible to receive them. The end result would be that most people would not work more hours because they would lose their subsidies.
We Americans need to wake up and remember that sweat and hard work built this country. Subsidies don’t build our homes, grow our food, or repair our cars. The actions of our current crop of elected leaders would make one believe that they have been climbing too high in the trees.
