GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS
I, like many other conservative Americans, watched anxiously concerning the decision of the Supreme Court on the Hobby Lobby challenge to the Obamacare insurance mandates. I am very pleased that Hobby Lobby was victorious in their challenge to the mandates in the law that dealt with birth control. Since the decision the liberal left, including Hillary Clinton have claimed that the decision will allow corporations to impose their beliefs upon their employees. While everyone has a right to his or her opinion, I cannot agree with Hillary Clinton. If there is anyone trying to impose his or her beliefs upon the American people it is the current administration occupying the White House.
I have no doubt that the Green family that owns Hobby Lobby has deeply held Christian values. My wife loves to shop at Hobby Lobby; you would think that her craft room in our home is a branch store because of all of the things she purchases there. The stores are clean and the staff are courteous. One of the biggest things that proves their devout faith is all of their stores are closed on Sunday in observance of keeping the Sabbath day holy. If they chose to open their stores on Sunday it might make the bottom line look better, but it is very evident that they value their faith more than money. By the actions of Hillary Clinton you would think that the only thing important in life is having an employer forced to supply some contraception drug that is nothing short of a chemical abortion. Hobby Lobby’s current health plan allows for contraception drugs that prevents a pregnancy, but does not allow those that terminate a pregnancy.
The good news is they won with a split decision of 5 to 4; the bad news is it was a split decision of 5 to 4. The debacle of Obamacare was held up with a similar vote by the Supreme Court when so-called conservative Chief Justice John Roberts decided to legislate from the bench and voted to uphold Obamacare. The problem we face is the longer we have unabashed liberals in the White House the bigger the chance we will have liberal judges appointed to the court. In my opinion the Greens should have won by a much larger margin.
In our society today more and more people don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. They would rather have the government force someone else to assume that responsibility. Pregnancy, unlike a disease, is caused for the most part by a voluntary act. The Greens or I may not approve of that lifestyle, but it is their business. Contraception products are easily available and inexpensive over the counter.
I am not trying to impose my ideals upon anyone, but I don’t want others to impose theirs upon me. If a swinging lifestyle turns you on go to your local Wal Mart, buy a couple cases of condoms and go about your way. But remember we are far better off being personally responsible and keeping the government out of our lives.
