A NATION’S RESOLUTION
Here we are again at the end of one year and getting ready to start a new one. Each year we hear countless individuals make New Year’s resolutions such as losing weight or stopping smoking. While all of them may be noble things, it is up to the individual to decide upon the subject that most affects them. While observing the events in the news over the past several months, in my opinion our nation needs to make some changes if our nation is to survive.
A logical question would be have we Americans totally lost our minds? The assassination of the two police officers in New York City should outrage every civilized person in our nation. There is much blame to go around for the death of the two police officers. The race baiters such as AL Sharpton who’s only purpose seems to inflame and stir people up. The worthless politicians who don’t have the courage or integrity to do the just and right thing, they are more concerned about making political points for the next election. The news media and their eternal desire to sensationalize an event to gain more market share.
Before the killing of the officers I watched a report of a so-called peaceful protest in New York City where the protesters were chanting they wanted dead cops and they wanted it now; I hope they are happy because that is exactly what they got. It is amazing how many people listen to the garbage the protesters spew out; all it takes is one idiot to destroy the lives of two families. It is getting to the point where we are seeing mob rule in the streets in our cities and I have found that mobs don’t know or care about all of the facts. The police offices have a job that many people could not do. They are forced to make life or death decisions on a daily basis. Without them we would be at the mercy of a bunch of murdering thugs; now we have some armchair expert condemning every action they take. I would like to make a comment about the actions of the police department. The police officers, to the best of my knowledge, were totally innocent; their fellow officers didn’t take to the streets burning and looting.
All of the evidence presented in the recent high profile cases proves that the men killed were resisting arrest. Even with all of the evidence, people across the country continue to promote the narrative that the shootings were due to race and the officers in question were the guilty ones. It was Adolph Hitler that once said that if you tell a lie often enough people would accept it as fact. The biggest cause of the problems that we are seeing today can be traced back to the disintegration of the family unit. Or maybe it can be traced back to watching TV shows such as Jerry Springer; it seems that many people learn their behavior from the show’s guests. Too many of our people are not taught values of respect, integrity or the simple art of civility. Until the people of this nation on an individual basis start cleaning up their acts, we had better get used to the violence we are witnessing.
