POLITICS OF A DOG PILE
Most everyone who has ever been to a football game has at one time or the other witnessed a dog pile. Usually it initially involves a player from each team scuffling for the football then both teams will pile on each other in an attempt to secure the ball for their team. While a football game is the most logical place to witness a dog pile it is not limited to the game, last week many of the Republican Presidential contenders engaged in a dog pile with Donald Trump being their target.
Most of the candidates were demanding an apology from Trump for his comments on Arizona Senator John McCain. In an interview Trump stated that he did not consider McCain a war hero because he was captured during the Vietnam War. Let history determine if McCain is a hero or not. Immediately most of the candidates attacked Trump saying that his comment was an insult to all veterans and he was unfit to be commander in chief. From what I saw I believe there is some bad blood between Trump and McCain and Trump’s comments were directed only at McCain. Whether the two men like or dislike each other is immaterial. The mainstream media was trying to fan the flames by continually playing Trump’s comment, but they failed to play a quote by McCain that started all of it where he said that all of Trump’s supporters were crazy. The Republican candidates need to let Trump be Trump and start telling their solutions to our nation’s problems. If they want to attack someone they need to be focusing their attention on the presumed Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton and her liberal policies. As far as apologies are concerned I have a few suggestions.
I feel that many of the career politicians need to apologize to the American people for not doing everything possible to fight the decline of our country that we are witnessing on a daily basis. I also feel that the children of this country should get the first apology, their future will be limited by an economy that will be destroyed by out of control debt. The American people gave the reigns of power to the Republicans to control both houses of Congress because they promised to oppose the current administration with all means available. Sadly many of them lost their backbone because they feared the wrath of the mainstream media.
The reason Donald Trump is so popular is because he boldly states his position and is unapologetic. I wonder if all of those candidates were really so offended or were they coached to act that way? If apologies are in order maybe they should start by being sorry for referring to his supporters as being crazy or calling Trump a clown or a jackass.
If all of the candidates haven’t figured it out yet they need to wake up and smell the coffee. The American people are tired of the politics as usual and the weak-knead response against the president’s actions on Obamacare and illegal immigrants. I find it refreshing to hear someone with the backbone to go it alone and not join in a dog pile.
