WHO IS TOO BLAME
Being a good debater requires one to look at your opposition and try to understand the reason or reasons why they hold a view on a certain issue. On some issues I have come to the conclusion that liberals and conservatives simply process information in different ways. In my opinion we conservatives tend to look at the world in black and white while the liberals look in various shades of grey. I am not saying that the liberals are all bad people, but there is a distinct difference in the way they view certain issues of the day. In a recent interview of Hillary Clinton with Meet the Press she was asked about abortion and the rights of the unborn children. Her answer drew a clear line on the difference between the conservative and liberal philosophy.
Clinton was asked by host Chuck Todd, “When or if does an unborn child have constitutional rights?” to which she responded: “Under our laws, currently, that is not something that exists. The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” Over the past several years the Constitution of the United States has come under increasing attacks from the left. Our constitution may not be perfect, but I sincerely believe that it comes closer than any other document in the history of mankind. I do not believe that anyone can deny the fact that the founders of this nation were godly men who were inspired by the Judeo Christian belief system. I am also sure that they believed in the concept of personal responsibility; today too many people want to blame anyone or anything to avoid being responsible for their actions. I wonder if the founders ever envisioned a time when the people of this nation would be willing to deny the right of life to a child in the womb.
I do believe in personal responsibility, but I also believe that responsibility extends even to the belief system that we profess to believe in. I have a simple solution to the problems that I face on the dilemmas that I face every day. If I were in a debate with God on any subject how would I present my argument to him and would I think that my argument would be strong enough to sway him to my side of the argument. As for the issue of abortion and the belief that the unborn have no constitutional rights, I cannot envision any facts that I could present to God and sway him to agree that the unborn have no right to life. We humans, and especially lawyers, like to look at any document and nitpick it to conform to our point of view.
On the issue of abortion I feel that there will never be a consensus between the pro-life and pro-choice groups. We pro-life conservatives are bound to our faith and no amount of debating will change that. Whether man made laws declare something is illegal or not does not over rule the will of God. When God gave the 10 commandments to Moses on the mount, they were commandments not simple suggestions. I believe that all of us will eventually have to give an accounting of our action and I am sure God will tell us who is to blame.
