THE CONSERVATIVE VIEW

WHO’S POINTING AT WHOM

Many years ago a wise man told me to look at my hand when I point my index finger at someone or something; he made the point while I had one finger pointing at something, there were three other fingers pointing back at me. As I watch the fallout from the school shooting in Florida, his analogy about the three fingers pointing back helps put the situation in perspective.

As soon as the story broke the gun control advocates were calling for more gun laws and more gun control. Immediately there were fingers being pointed at the National Rifle Association blaming them for the cycle of violence that is all too frequent in our society. I have found that we humans are always trying to find a scapegoat to crucify in the name of political correctness, but I believe that we are far overdue for a look at the society we have allowed to develop in our nation. The shooter in Florida is proof absolute that evil exists in our world. For evil to flourish it requires the right environment, and we Americans have allowed that environment to grow. Just look at the entertainment our children watch on a daily basis. Most of the movies produced today are full of drug use, violence and gore that many of my generation couldn’t have imagined in our youth.  The video games that so many of our youth have become addicted to are also full of killing and bloodshed; the graphics have become so lifelike that it isn’t much of a leap from the virtual world to the real world. While there are always some bad apples in a basket, the vast majority of police officers are doing their best to protect the citizens of this nation, but look at the disrespect and hostility directed at them. Many of our elected leaders who have sworn to uphold the law want to pick and choose the laws they want to enforce and declare certain cities as sanctuaries for people who violate our laws and come into our country illegally.   Whether we want to admit it or not we have created an environment where we are training our youth to be killers.

Our nation was founded upon the Judao Christian belief system; for some reason we Americans are forgetting our heritage. While drive by news media likes to talk about religions of peace, many of them are openly hostile to the one true religion of peace “CHRISTIANITY”. While the politically correct crowd promotes other religions, Christians are ridiculed and made fun of. It is a fact that too many people of today do not value human life and the political leaders cannot understand why our people are placing little value on life. How can we expect it to be any other way when we promote a society where in the name of choice we scrape an unborn child from its mother’s womb and toss it in the garbage? We cannot have it both ways.

The founders of this nation understood the necessity for the second amendment; the NRA is trying to preserve that right. Before we continue to point fingers at the NRA we need to take a hard look at what kind of society we Americans have allowed to infect our nation. Until we humans evolve into logical, caring beings no amount of human authored laws will be a perfect solution. Until that time the most logical action would be to solicit help from our retired military and law enforcement people to provide protection in the schools across this nation.
