THE CONSERVATIVE VIEW

A NATION DIVIDED

From what I have been witnessing over the past several months I have come to the conclusion that we Americans have forgotten the one concept that has made our nation great. There have always been multiple classes in this country but we all had one unifying idea, whatever class we came from we were all Americans. It kind of reminded me of brothers and sisters who were constantly fighting; while they would fight amongst each other, they would defend their siblings if someone outside of their family tried to do any harm to them. Ever since the election of Donald Trump there has been one attack after another against him and the conservatives of this nation. It is apparent that the news media and the liberal progressives are on a never ending, seek and destroy mission against all conservatives. One report I watched was about asking college students how they felt about the Supreme Court justice president Trump had nominated; the students who were questioned expressed their outrage and disapproval of the nominee. While their response did not surprise me, the kicker to the story was that the question was asked before President Trump had made his choice of nominee. Too many of our citizens have gotten into a thing called mob rule, instead of thinking for themselves they are forming their opinion based on someone else’s philosophy.

Recently someone sent me an email with the writing of a gentleman by the name of Jack Minzey. In his article he talked about what is the starting of a civil war. I would like to share part of his article. How do civil wars happen? Two or more sides disagree on who runs the country. And they can't settle the question through elections because they don't even agree that elections are how you decide who's in charge.  That's the basic issue here. Who decides who runs the country? When you hate each other but accept the election results, you have a country. When you stop accepting election results, you have a countdown to a civil war.

Today we have celebrities who fantasize about blowing up the white house, and so called comedians making jokes about doing harm to the president and his family. Whether they realize it or not they are contributing to the mob mentality I mentioned earlier. We have openly anti Trump FBI agents who plotted to do anything to prevent him from winning the election. Now one of those agents is refusing to answer a Congressional subpoena.

In our nation our political process has become perverted. Politics is supposed to be a place where we debate ideas and philosophies; instead it has become a home for political hit men intent upon destroying the other side with mis-information and outright lies. When Obama was elected I did not like it one bit, but I accepted it and tried to make the best of it. I was critical of his agenda but I did not advocate civil unrest and violence. We are a nation that is divided, and if we don’t start injecting some sanity and civility back into our political process we are on a path to our second civil war.
