RUSH TO JUDGMENT
Many years ago I made a comment about the rise of the Nazi party in pre-World War 2; I often thought that there were surely some good people that could have run Germany far better than the thugs that eventually took control. Later I began to understand that good people are governed by a code of conduct that people of less integrity don’t adhere to. Granted good people do make mistakes and no one is perfect, but for the most part good people believe that there is a higher power that is keeping score on what we do. Good people refuse to make false accusations and do the best to tell the truth. Words have power and the ones with little integrity understand it, they have found that stretching the truth or telling outright lies often times will benefit their cause. Good people believe in a set of rules, but when the other side does not play by those rules they are at a huge disadvantage. In the arena of politics in our nation the situation has gotten so bad that many good people do not want to have anything to do with the process, when this happens guess who is running our government. The recent accusations against Supreme Court Nominee Brent Kavanaugh don’t pass the smell test for a variety of reasons.
While I do not give any human my undying allegiance, I do have the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Judge Kavanaugh is a human just like the rest of us, he is capable of doing great things but he is also capable of making mistakes. From various reports the accusation against Judge Kavanaugh was known to Senator Feinstein from California before the confirmation process even began, it is strange to me that this accusation was put aside until the late part of the hearings. We need to remember when two diametrically opposed points of view are presented, it is a fact that one side is lying. All you can hear is the mainstream media attacking Kavanaugh with nothing said about the accuser’s background. From the reports I have read Judge Kavanaugh has had a distinguished career, it would be a travesty to destroy a person’s career and reputation by an accusation that proves to be false.
It also seems that anytime a conservative is nominated for the court the liberals seem to always fall back on the same old play book. I am old enough to remember the accusations that were levied against Justice Clarence Thomas when he was going through the nomination process. The actions of Senator Feinstein tell me that Kavanaugh passed all of the questions asked of him, and her releasing a 36 year old accusation is just a last ditch effort to slow down the process. I guess Feinstein’s strategy has been successful to an extent because the main stream media will keep it constantly in the headlines. All I can say is Kavanaugh has been in the public eye for decades, it would be foolish to rush into judgment and let the liberals cast a shadow on his character over a dubious accusation from 36 years ago.
